There is a recipe for helping society

By Bob Stickley

It seems there is a story on TV or in the newspaper everyday about someone who has been murdered by a family member.

There are stories about mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and even children have been killed by someone in their own family.

What is wrong with our society today?

Well, to begin with, God is no longer being served by many Americans. The group that still praises Him and looks to Him for guidance is getting smaller.

People have so many things that occupy their lives they don’t have time for God. There are so many people who just will not take time to serve God.

Because of this, sometimes grudges and hatred begin to set in on their lives. Enough so sometimes, someone will go out of their mind and will kill or injure one of their family members.

Our children and raised and introduced to a drug infested society. We constantly hear about people being arrested for buying, selling or using drugs.

It is a sin and God does not approve of it one bit.

In my opinion, we live in such a fast paced world where thousands of people have lost their jobs and prices on everything from groceries to gasoline has skyrocketed, people turn to whatever they can to make money, no matter how sinful it is.

You know, Jesus threw the moneychanger out of the place, maybe we should get rid of some of these sinful people also.

The examples we set as parents for our children is that which a child will do.

For example, if one or more of the parents do not go to church, then that child will say “why do I have to go, mom didn’t or daddy went fishing instead.”

God will offer you many things if you follow Him. So what blessing would one expect to receive with an attitude such as that?

Another aspect of this is the cruelty to animals.

People have started killing dogs in dogfights so they can gamble on what animal will come out a winner. People here in Alabama do chickens the same way, just to make a dollar.

One must remember that serving God will produce many blessings, both spiritual and financial. But violence will not get anything for you but jail time.

We have a forgiving God that we serve and if only these people would turn to Him and not serve society, my, what a difference He could make in their lives.

He will bless those who serve Him.
