Lady Golden Tigers take tourney title

For the first time in several years the Russellville varsity girls basketball team walked off the floor of their own court as champions of their own Thanksgiving tournament.
The Lady Golden Tigers won three games to capture the title.
They defeated Red Bay, ranked No. 7 in Class 2A, 55-39 behind a 21-point performance by Tasha West. Erin Reynolds added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Also scoring for Russellville were Amber Elliot (8), Janarie Donley (7), Taylor Smith (5) and Rebecca Mitchell (3).
Caitlin Childers led Red Bay with 18 points while Whitney Sharp and Morgan McKinney added six points each.
West and Reynolds both recorded double-doubles in the 53-33 victory against Lexington. West had 25 points and 12 rebounds while Reynolds scored 16 and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Katie Bostick and Elliot had four points each while Telesha Abernathy and Donley had two points each.
The Lady Golden Tigers won the title with a 53-43 win against Florence.
Reynolds had her third double-double of the tournament with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
West added 15 points while Smith scored 11 and Elliot scored nine.
