Tigers host Rebels

By Staff
The Auburn football team is trying to rebound from a tough loss at LSU last week as it returns home today for a game against Ole Miss.
Things could be just as tough for the Tigers this week as the Ole Miss offense has caught fire in recent weeks.
Quarterback Jevan Snead has thrown for 572 yards and five touchdowns the previous two weeks and Dexter McCluster became the first Rebel to top the 100-yard mark in both rushing and receiving against Arkansas last week.
Craig Stephens leads the Auburn defense with 69 tackles – good for fourth in the Southeastern Conference – while Josh Bynes is fifth in the conference with 67 tackles.
The Auburn offense, which has cooled in recent weeks, will face a stiff defense led by defensive end Kentrell Lockett and Patrick Trahan, who have four sacks each.
Running back Ben Tate, who is second in the SEC and 11th nationally with 115.4 yards per game, leads the Auburn offense.
He has topped the 100-yard rushing mark five times this season.
Quarterback Chris Todd is still one of the best in the nation in yards per completion (13.07) and passing efficiency (133.71.) His 12 touchdown passes is 30th in the NCAA.
Two of the best kickers in the SEC will face off in this game.
Ole Miss' Joshua Shene is the only kicker in the conference that has not missed a field goal attempt this season (8-of-8) and has converted all but one point-after attempts.
Auburn's Wes Byrum his hit 12-of-13 field goals and all 30 point-after attempts.
The Tigers lead the all-time series 24-9 but lost to the Rebels 17-7 last season.
Auburn has had 20 rushing touchdowns in its last nine games against Ole Miss, while the Rebels have just six rushing touchdowns during that span, including only two in the last seven years.
