City road repairs to be completed

The Russellville City Council voted Monday to take necessary steps to complete a couple of road projects.
The council authorized Mayor Troy Oliver to enter into a contract with S&M Equipment Company for completion of the turn lane at the intersection of Underwood Road and U.S. 43.
"This is something that will help a lot of people and I am glad we are getting closer to having it completed for them," said Councilman Gary Cummings.
The project is estimated to cost $44,654.29 to be paid out of the 4 cent gas tax fund;.
The council also approved resurfacing East Lawrence Street between U.S. 43 and Alabama 24 using the Franklin County in place bid for $192,776.10 to be paid out of the 4 cent gas tax fund and the completion of paving in Deer Run Subdivision using the Franklin County in place bid for $89,567.18 from the street maintenance fund.
