Lora Jackson Gray, 105, of Red Bay, passed away Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009 at the Care Center of Red Bay.
She was born on Nov. 8, 1903 in Red Bay to Thomas and Mary Russal Sartain. She was a member of Vina First Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Sept. 6 at Vina First Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Ledbetter and Jerry Swimmer officiating. Burial was in Ebenezeer Cemetery.
She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Jackson and David Gray, her parents, and several brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers were J.T. Pharr, Jerry Anglin, Danny Jackson, Darrell Jackson, Donald Jackson, Gary Jackson, Glenn Flahert and Harold Pharr.
Ervin Marcell Underwood

Ervin Marcell Underwood, 73, of Golden, Miss. died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009 at his residence. He was born Mary 17, 1936 in Itawamba County, Miss. and was a truck driver.
Funeral services were held Sept. 6, at Antioch Baptist Church in Golden, Miss. with burial in Hodge Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy Underwood; eight sons, Dean Underwood and wife, Brenda, of Fulton, Miss., Dale Underwood, Tracey Underwood, Kevin Underwood and Kim Underwood, all of Golden, Miss., Gary Underwood and wife, Judy, and Terry Underwood and wife, Rose, all of Dennis, Miss. and Byron Underwood and wife, Rita, of Belmont, Miss.; one sister, Peggy Underwood, of Fulton, Miss.; four brothers, Bervin Underwood and wife, Nell, and Murlis Underwood and wife, JoAnn, all of Nettleton, Miss. and Larry Underwood and wife, Nola, and Troy Underwood and wife, Peggy, all of Golden, Miss.; thirteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clovis and Cora Pruitt Underwood.
Family members served as pallbearers.
Betty Jo Akins

Betty Jo Akins, 77, of Fairfield, Ala., died Thursday, Sept. 3 at her residence. She was born August 11, 1932 in Missouri to Fred and Ruby Creech Baggett. She was a homemaker.
Funeral services were held Sept. 6 at Baggett Cemetery with Bro. Billy Credille officiating.
She is survived by three sons, Richard Akins and wife, Debbie, of Hueytown, Ala., Keith Akins and wife, Lisa, of Birmingham, and Chad Akins and wife, Jessica, of Clarksville, Tenn.; one brother, Tim Baggett, of Red Bay; lifelong friend and caregiver, James Harris, of Birmingham; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis "Rass" Akins; son, Steve Akins; her parents; and six brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers were Keith Akins, Chad Akins, Adam Lucas, David Culver, Jerry Green, Joey Click and Jonathan Click.
Sue Edwards Martin

Sue Edwards Martin, 62, of Sardis, Miss., died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009 at North Miss. Baptist Memorial Hospital. She was born on November 20, 1946 in New Madrid, Mo. to John and Dorothy Edwards. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Yazoo City and attended St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Oxford.
Funeral services were held Sept. 6, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Charles Holcomb officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Hollis Martin; two sons, Christopher Martin, of New Orleans, La. and Jeffrey Martin, Denver, Co.; her mother, Mrs. Dorothy Edwards; two sisters, Dorothy Leigh Poore and Betty Edwards; one brother, John Edwards, Jr.; two loving grandchildren, Ali and Hale Martin, of New Orleans, La.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were nephews and great-nephews, Lance Martin, Martin Davis, Nathan Martin, Andy Carroll, Bill Reeves and Donnis Martin. Honorary pallbearers were Kent Montgomery, Si Burnsworth, Pat Brabston, Gene Kent and Ben McPhail.
James Oden McKinney

James Oden McKinney, 81, of Spruce Pine, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009 at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home in Florence. He was a retired veteran of the Korean War. He was also a member of the Quinn Memorial Church of Christ.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Spry Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 10 at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Bro. Lonnie Oldag officiating. Interment will be in Corinth National Cemetery in Corinth, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Flora McKinney, of Spruce Pine; sister, Loree Hinton, of Conway, Ark.; and son, Jeffrey McKinney, San Bernardino, Calif.
He is survived by his sons, Jon McKinney and wife, Donica, of Florence, Brian McKinney and wife, Elaine, of Longmont, Colo., and Jimmy McKinney, San Bernardino, Calif.; brother, Hoyt McKinney, Mt. Olive, Ala.; mother of his children, Jean McKinney, San Bernardino, Calif.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Mitchell Hollingsworth staff and to the care takers at Southern Manor in Russellville for their care and concern during his stay there.

Betty Jeanne Windham, 83, of Vina, Ala. died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009 at the NMMC in Tupelo, Miss. She was born on March 18, 1926 in Santa Ana, Calif. She attended Atwood Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Sept. 10, at 1 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Nathan Davidson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in California.
She is survived by two daughter, Karole Baggett and Cynthia Karcher, both of Vina; one son, Brian Windham, of Bellflower, Calif.; one brother, Richard Stevens, of Anaheim Hills, Calif.; one half-brother, John Stevens, of Calif.; five grandchildren, Tonya Salazar, Brandy Windham and Drake Windham, all of Calif. and Justin Baggett and Sarah Baggett, both of Vina; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack C. Windham; her father, Lloyd Stevens; her mother, Velma Inez Dill; and her sister, Marilyn Jane Stevens.

Willie Mae Brooks Page, 88, of Golden, Miss., died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009 at NMMC in Tupelo. She was born on May 7, 1921 in Franklin County to Hosea and Ester Hester Horton. She was a member of Old Burleson Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Sept. 8 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Walter Bennett and Bro. Coye Marbutt officiating. Burial was in Old Burleson Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, David Q. Myra Louise McDougle, 46, of Spruce Pine, passed away Monday, Sept. 7, 2009 at Huntsville Hospital.
The visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. at the chapel. Interment will be in Edgar Chapel Cemetery in Phil Campbell.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Louise Crane; grandparents, aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her husband, of 29 years, Ricky McDougle; daughter, Courtney Carter and husband, Adam, of Utah; son, Cody McDougle and wife, Brittany, of Tuscumbia; grandchildren, Harley Carter, Kylee Carter, of Utah; Sway Michael, of Tuscumbia; brother, Michael Crane, of Anderson; nieces and nephew, Jessica Crane, Katelyn Crane; father and mother-in-law, Obie and Elizabeth McDougle; brother, Mike Wilson and wife, Denise; and numerous friends and family.
Pallbearers will be Cody McDougle, Adam Carter, Hunter Crane, Henry Stanford, and Mike Wilson.
