Red Devils preparing for tough offense

By Staff

VINA – The Vina football team opens a stretch of games against high-powered offenses this week when it hosts Phillips in the Red Devils' home opener.
The Bears (2-0, 1-0) averaged more than 60 points per game last season and is on pace to duplicate that feat this year.
After struggling offensively and defensively against Shoals Christian, Vina (1-1, 1-1) rebounded with a strong win at Tharptown last week.
The Red Devils have scored an average of 24 points per game and allowed an average of 24 points per game.
Brent Townsend, who has scored six of Vina's seven touchdowns this season, will lead the offensive effort as the Red Devils try to stay in the hunt for a playoff berth.
Next week Vina hosts No. 8 R.A. Hubbard, the region favorite. Vina will need to win at least one of those games to keep playoff hopes alive.
The game against Phillips begins at 7 p.m.
