RHS opens region play at Lee

Last week the Russellville football team earned a victory against a ranked opponent.
This week the Golden Tigers will have to fight off complacency as they take on a lesser opponent Thursday when they travel to Huntsville to play Lee.
Russellville pounded Lee 61-16 last year. The score could be worse this year.
The Golden Tigers managed to gain 422 yards of total offense and put 26 points on the board against a strong and fast Deshler defense last week.
Lee's offense struggled last week and was shut out by Red Bay. The Generals threw six interceptions and their defense allowed Red Bay to score 34 points.
Lee allowed Red Bay's ground attack to move the ball at will. If the Generals' run defense does not play better, the Russellville running backs could have a field day.
Brent Calloway led the Golden Tigers with 120 rushing yards while Jyran Darby had 74 yards and Jesse Green recorded 29 yards against Deshler.
Thursday's game is the first region game of the season for both schools. It will be played at 7 p.m. at Milton-Frank Stadium.
