Council honors trap shooting champs

The Russellville City Council recognized a group of boys Monday night that recently won the clay shooting national championship.
The council adopted resolutions honoring the Waterfall Valley Claybusters for winning the national championship at the Scholastics Clay Target program's national tournament in Sparta, Ill., on July 26.
The team members are Jacob Gist, Blake Reed, Kollin Hester, Alex Pounders, and Trevor Mitchell. They are coached by Anthony Hester and Larry Mitchell.
The team went on to finish third at the Academics, Integrity and Marksmanship competition in Sparta, Ill., on Aug, 8-9.
The council also passed a resolution honoring the Claybusters intermediate team, which finished eighth in the national championships in July and again at the Academics, Integrity and Marksmanship competition earlier this month. Those team members are Dyllan Bailey, Evan Hargett, Jordan Gist, Adam Mitchell and Matthew Waldrep.
A third resolution honoring the team recognized a couple of Russellville brothers.
Hunter and Blake Reed were named the top shooting brothers in the United States at the Academics, Integrity and Marksmanship competition. Hunter Reed finished second place in the national collegiate shooting competition.
