Vina too much for BHS

BELGREEN – Vina picked up another area win Tuesday by beating Belgreen 21-2 on the road.
Adam Pharr earned the win, pitching three innings before Sammy Pardue threw two innings of relief.
The Red Devils struck early as Morgan McCarley and Channing Haithcock drew walks in the first inning. Matthew Hester doubled and all three players eventually scored to give Vina a 3-0 lead after the top of the first.
Belgreen answered in the bottom half of the inning when Trent Edwards scored to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Vina scored eight runs in the second – including a solo home run by Haithcock – to take control of the game. The Red Devils tacked on six more runs in the third to push their lead to 17-1.
Edwards drew a walk for the Bulldogs in the third and came around to score.
Vina added four more runs in the fourth to round out the scoring.
Hester hit a pair of doubles, a single and drove in two runs to lead the Red Devils while Cass White hit a pair of doubles, a single and had one RBI.
Haithcock had the homer and a single, Patrick White hit two doubles and Brent Townsend doubled, singled and drove in one run. Pharr and Clay Pierce hit one single each.
Both teams will resume area play Monday when Vina travels to Tharptown and Belgreen hosts Phillips.
