C.I.T.Y. program staff will be greatly missed

By Staff
The announcement this week that the county's Community Intensive Treatment for Youth program was being hit by state funding cuts is a blow to our county's youth.
Though the program will continue to operate with a couple of staff members, all local personnel are being replaced.
The program will serve about half the students that it had previously been able to.
Many people in Franklin County may not be familiar with the C.I.T.Y. program, but it is invaluable to our school systems. The program works to help troubled youth and relies on referrals from the local court system.
The program has a staggering success rate when it comes to rehabilitating troubled teens and helping get them back in school or to obtain a GED.
Coordinator Ramona Roberson and all teachers, aids and support personnel on the local level should be proud of what they've done for these students.
Lives and futures have been changed because of their hard work.
