PC forces extra innings, falls 12-10 to Tuscaloosa

SHEFFIELD – The Russellville 9-10 All-Stars defeated Sheffield 17-3 in four innings during the District 6 tournament at Sheffield Youth Park Monday night.
The win propels Russellville to tonight's championship game at 5:30 p.m. The Tigers, who have outscored their opponents 39-4 in two games, will be aiming for their seventh district title in eight years.
Russellville scored seven runs in the second inning and 10 more runs in the third, while Sheffield could only push across three total runs, including two unearned, in the second and third innings.
Joshua Seal, who went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, silenced the Sheffield hitters, who pummeled Tuscaloosa-Central 25-5 Saturday, by allowing only one earned run on four hits in 3 1/3 innings, while Reed Smith, who went 2-for-2 with three RBIs, earned the save.
Cody Greenhill went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, and Austin Kitterman and Judd Ward added two hits apiece.
Tanner Bozeman, Christian Poag, Caunr Gregory and Tye Brown each had a hit for Sheffield, while Sid Willis took the loss on the mound.

It took three days and eight innings but Tuscaloosa-Barnes managed to eliminate the Phil Campbell 9-10 All-Stars 12-10 in the District 6 Little League tournament at Sheffield Youth Park Monday.
Phil Campbell and Tuscaloosa-Barnes faced off Saturday night with both teams needing a win to stay alive in the double-elimination tournament.
Tuscaloosa took an early 6-1 lead but Phil Campbell fought back to lead 7-6 in the third inning.
Tuscaloosa tied the game at 8-8 in the fifth inning but Phil Campbell answered with three runs in bottom of the inning before Tuscaloosa rallied with three runs in the sixth to force extra innings.
The game was postponed until Monday due to the Little Leaue 11 p.m. curfew rule.
After a scoreless seventh, Tuscaloosa pushed across two runs and escaped a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the inning to advance to face Tuscaloosa-Central Monday night.
Bailey Thompson went 3-for-4, while Blake Jones, Jacob Hamilton and Garrett Jones added two hits to lead Phil Campbell.
Taevious McKinstry led Tuscaloosa with a game-high three hits.
