Annie M. Mays

Annie Mae Mays, was born September 4, 1915, to James Elec Hopkins and Jessie Gray Hopkins.
She was a native of Lawrence County and married December 17, 1931, to Emmett Ashburn Elkins.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 13, 2008, at Pinkard Funeral Home. Burial was in Mount Hope Methodist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughters, Doris Pace and husband, Gene, Carol Sue Roberson and husband, L.O.; four grandchildren, Roland Pace and wife, Beth, Richard Pace and friend, Sue, Lori Wilson and husband, Mike, Phillip Roberson and wife, Jenny; great-grandchildren, Tyler Roberson, Anna Roberson, Jake Russell, Chris Pace, Bridgette Pace; sisters-in-law, Quinnie Smith and Dean Cook.
On July 21, 1972, she married Clint Mays. She is also survived by stepdaughter, Lela Rae Shots; step-granddaughter, Cheryl Wood and husband, Steve; step-great-granddaughter, Sarah Wood; step-great-grandsons, Morgan and Josh Wilson; step-great-great-grandson, Wyatt Wilson and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Roland Pace, Richard Pace, Phillip Roberson, Mike Wilson, Jimmy Cook, Jerry Hopkins; honorary bearers were Tyler Roberson, Christopher Pace and Jake Russell.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ashburn Elkins, of Mount Hope, and Clint Mays, of Hamilton; three sisters and four brothers.
