A Russellville woman was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance Friday after admitting to authorities that she used drugs in the presence of her children.
Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said that Carolyn Louise Galvez, 28, who resides at the Ridgecrest Apartments in Russellville, was taken into custody Friday afternoon.
Russellville police were accompanying the Department of Human Resources on a welfare check call.
Galvez allegedly admitted to officials that she had been using drugs in the presence of her children, and told authorities that she was also four months pregnant, Hargett added.
Galvez was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
She remains the Franklin County Jail pending a $7,000 Community Corrections bond, Hargett said.
"Once she makes bond, she will be required to report to community corrections for drug testing," he added.
Galvez's two children were placed in the custody of a family member.
