Former Alabama quarterback Steadman S. Shealy, Jr. will be the guest speaker at a dinner to benefit Quinn's Ranch on Saturday, March 17, at 6:30 p.m. at the A.W. Todd Center in Russellville.
Shealy quarterbacked the Crimson Tide to national championships under legendary coach Paul "Bear" Bryant in 1978 and 1979.
He was named MVP in the SEC in 1979 and was selected that year by the NCAA as one of the top five athletes in the nation, based on leadership, character and ability.
In his prep career at Dothan High School, Shealy led the football team to the state championship game in 1974 and 1975. He was All-State in football and also lettered in basketball, baseball and track.
Shealy also starred in the classroom. He was Valedictorian of his high school class and also received the Mark Cannon Award with a perfect 4.0 GPA in 1975. He then went on to be an honor graduate at Alabama.
