Rose Brown

Rose Brown, age 73, of Russellville went home to be with the Lord and her heavenly friends on Friday, February 23, 2007.
She was the wife of the late Oscar DeWitt Brown and the mother of the late Shelia Alford and granddaughter Shree Alford.
Mrs. Brown is survived by two children, Derek DeWitt Brown and Joan Gertrude Wilson; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Baptist Church and had lived in Russellville most of her last years. Rose, you will be missed dearly.
Cora Rice Hicks

Cora Rice Hicks, age 89, of Falkville, passed away Friday, February 23, 2007.
Mrs. Hicks was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist (Frog Pond) Church, Spruce Pine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lennie D. Hicks; two daughters, Lucille Hicks Estes and Jeannette Hicks Hartselle; her parents, Gaines W. Rice and Viola Washburn; three brothers, Clyde, Sam and Thurman Rice; and three sisters, Era Robinson, Agnes Hicks and Dorothy Bishop.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2007, at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Gene Franks officiating. Interment was in Franklin Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Hicks is survived by two sons, Aldon Hicks and wife Gaynell, of Russellville, and G.W. Hicks and wife Sarah, of Cullman; a daughter, Margie Caldwell and husband Phillip, of Birmingham; two sisters, Lema Walker of Elba and Mary McNutt of Phil Campbell; a brother, Bill Rice of Michigan; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Donald Ray Martin

Donald Ray Martin, age 55, of Red Bay, passed away Monday, February 26, 2007, at Red Bay Hospital.
Mr. Martin was born November 3, 1951, in Missouri to Elvis and Muriel Lourance Martin. He was a sawmill worker for 20 years and attended the Church of God. He was preceded in death by his father and a twin brother, Dennis Ralph Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2007, at Yarber Funeral Home Chapel in Mountain View, Missouri, with Bro. Bill Miller officiating. Interment will be in Montier Cemtery in Montier, Missouri.
Mr. Martin is survived by his mother, Muriel Martin of Red Bay; two daughters, Tina Clark and husband Randy, of Cabool, MO, and Lisa Martin of Willow Springs, MO; one brother, Marvin Martin of St. James, MO; six sisters, Pat Daniels of Hornersville, MO, Saundra Martin and Pam Taylor, both of Red Bay, Debra Mullins and Louise Miller, both of Mountain View, MO, and Karen Rhodes of Florida; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Travis Ray Page, Sr.

Travis Ray Page, Sr., age 80, of Haleyville, passed away Friday, February 23, 2007, at Marion Regional Medical Center in Hamilton.
Mr. Page was a member of Haleyville Free Will Baptist, a retired Millwright, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ranzy Floyd William Page and Barbara Alice Taylor Page; and five brothers, George, Charles, Mack, Garvin and Marvin Page.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2007, at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Jerry Boyles and Joseph Boyles officiating. Interment was in Littleville Cemetery.
Mr. Page is survived by nine children, Janice Boyles of Haleyville, Barbara Flynn, Shirley Cowley and Denise Jenkins, all of Fayetteville, TN, Carol Pruett of Double Springs, Travis Ray Page, Jr. of Meansville, GA, and Angela Woods, Ann Jeannette Cave and Diane Page, all of Georgia; three sisters, Josie Riddle and Leola Webb, both of Haleyville, and Nell Klaber of Foley; sixteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.
James Madison Swann

James Madison Swann, age 93, of Haleyville, passed away Friday, February 23, 2007, at Lakeland Community Hospital.
Mr. Swann was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Swann; his mother, Elizabeth Thrasher; his wife, Geraldine Swann; a son, Richard Swann; and a brother, Columbus Fowler.
Private graveside services were held at Macedonia Cemetery with Duke Martin officiating.
Mr. Swann is survived by a son, Bill Swann of Haleyville; an adoptive son, Duke Martin; two foster children, Velvet Wayand and Kay Mayle; seven grandchildren, Marla Elliott, Lisa Cagle, Bill Swann, Jr., Butch Swann, Kevin Swann, Teresa Reyes and Rodney Purser; and fourteen great-grandchildren, Rachel Elliott, Dustin Cagle, Anna Lisa Cagle, Will Swann, Mary Claire Swann, Allie Swann, Cyler Bryant Swann, Brooke Swann, Madison Swann, Hunter Posey, Dillon Posey, Antonio Reyes, Mason Reyes and Anna Reyes.
Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.
Jerry Wayne Taylor

Jerry Wayne Taylor, age 59, of Russellville, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2007.
Mr. Taylor was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. He was a loving husband and a great father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Conley and Burnie Wooten Taylor; and a brother, W.C. Taylor.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Keith Prince and Bro. Elmer Smith officiating. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Wanda Michael Taylor; a son, Jeremy Taylor and wife Jessica, of Tuscumbia; a daughter, Tina Jenkins of Belmont, MS; a granddaughter, Brooke Jenkins of Belmont, MS; two brothers, Woodrow Taylor and wife Minnie, of Phil Campbell, and Carl Taylor of Hodges; two sisters, Betty Daniels of Hackleburg and Carolyn Walton of Haleyville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Spry Chapel of Russellville assisted the family.
