Two Russellville men were arrested and charged with elder abuse and first-degree theft of property Monday.
Jamie Harold Keelon, 38, of 546 Third Street, and his son, Brent Jason Keelon, 20, were arrested after receiving approximately $300,000 from an elderly woman for home renovations that were never done, Franklin County Sheriff Larry Plott said.
"A few small items were fixed in the house, but not enough to cost $300,000," authorities said.
First-degree theft of property is a Class B felony and is punishable by two to 20 years in prison. Elder abuse is a Class C felony and is punishable with between one year and a day to 10 years in prison, District Attorney Joey Rushing said. Both men have been released on $5,000 bond.
