Police arrest man on theft charges

A Muscle Shoals man has been arrested in Russellville on theft charges.
James Farentino Madden, 34, 2600 East Avalon Ave, Muscle Shoals, was arrested and charged with first-degree theft of property after he allegedly opened a checking account and deposited checks drawn on closed accounts, or that were counterfeit or forged, Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said.
"At this time, we know that over $6,000 has been stolen," Hargett said.
Madden was on probation in Lauderdale County at the time of his arrest, and this case will revoke his probation there, Hargett said.
Madden may face more charges on other cases in Franklin and Cullman counties.
