A Russellville business owner is preparing for the release of his first Contemporary Christian album on Feb. 24.
Eric Brown, owner of Just For Fun Music, will release his new album, Retro: Why would He change when He can change you?, at a special concert at North Russellville Baptist Church to begin at 2 p.m.
"This is my first contemporary Christian album, and I am very excited about it," Brown said.
Brown has been a musician his whole life. He first played at a piano at 18 months old, and he had his first music lesson at 7-years-old.
Before becoming a Christian, Brown worked on a project in Los Angeles, Cal. While the project created a buzz, it was not substantial enough for Brown to stay for another project. He returned home to Alabama, where he later gave his life to God.
The new album contains 11 tracks written by Brown, and Brown plays the majority of the music as well. The entire record was recorded at his studio in Russellville.
"I played every instrument on the disc with the exception of a few tracks," Brown said.
The album will be available at the concert. Another artist, Daniel Gogins, will also performing at the concert. Brown's album will be available for $15 or both albums can be purchased at $10 each, Brown said.
"Ten percent of all the proceeds from the album goes to Restoration Ranch, and ten percent will go to WFIX," Brown said.
After the concert, the album will be available on the Internet, but Brown hopes that the project will soon be available at retail stores.
"Hopefully it will snowball to go into retail stores as well," Brown said.
The church members will serve a dinner after the concert. Everyone is invited to attend the concert.
