Phillips acquitted of robbery charges

A Franklin County Jury found Curtis Labraun Phillips not guilty of conspiracy to commit robbery, a Class B felony, yesterday afternoon.
Phillips was accused of planning to rob the Town Hill gas station in Russellville, but not following through with the plan after finding police in the area at the time at the time he planned the alleged heist.
"Conspiracy cases come down to the creditability of co-defendants," District Attorney Joey Rushing said, "and defense attorney Rebecca Thomason did a good job working her side of the case."
Both Rushing and Thomason are pleased with the outcome of the trial, and thanked the jury for their role in the proceedings.
"I think the jury did a fine job deliberating this case," Thomason said.
The jury deliberated for less than an hour before finding Phillips not guilty.
Today, criminal jury week continues in Franklin County, and today's case is in regards to a pitching machine stolen from the Red Bay Little League.
The rape case scheduled on the docket this week has been continued because of the defendant's failure to appear. An arrest warrant has been issued for the defendant in that case, Rushing said.
