Hunting for bargains, even at the pump

Gas prices are finally beginning to drop, and I am so glad. I was so excited to see the price of gas in Haleyville, where I live, at $1.99.
I immediately put on my blinker and pulled in to fill my car up. After all gas is not this cheap everyday. I am a true bargain hunter, and purchasing gas is no different.
I usually buy my gas in Russellville during the week to save money. I do drive 250 round trip miles to and from work each week, and that doesn't include newspaper business.
I try to be cost efficient with the rest of my spending as well. I hunt for bargains in the sales papers each week before buying groceries, and I usually go to three different stores to get the best deals on certain items. One of those stores being a Russellville retailer-I am not going to name names.
Jimmy is the same way. He loves a good bargain. Usually after Christmas, we go and stock up on seasonal items. I have purchased tons of decorations using this method.
I like to save money, mainly because I have two children, and they cost money. So, we try to save here and there in order to make ends meet. I really can't imagine anyone in this day and time that doesn't have to penny pinch time to time.
The only time we don't try to get the best bargain is when we are on vacation. We usually go to Orlando to visit all the fun sites associated with Central Florida. While we don't ration our funds too much, we always manage to vacation for less than $1,500 per year round trip with all expenses paid.
I usually check on the Internet for a great buy on hotel or condo rentals, and book the best deal. Now, that part of the vacation takes research and dedication because the best deal is not always on the surface.
After lodging is booked and paid for, I check for the best deal on attraction tickets. I never purchase at the gate. Who wants to stand in line with two kids screaming for Mickey Mouse? Not Me!
Once the lodging and attractions are taken care of, the rest of our vacation funds are used for fuel-which is about $200 round trip– food, and other activities such as shopping and smaller attractions.
Our family always has a great time on vacation, and we never break the bank because we do our research and know the best deals before we go.
Whether you are a bargain hunter or not, the lower gas prices are a welcome relief, but just remember not get too used to them because they are bound to increase.
