Belgreen girls earn area win

Deborah Billingham had 16 points and Kellie Oliver added 15 on Thursday as Belgreen picked up a win in Class 1A, Area 16 play with a 55-45 victory over Covenant Christian.
Amy Smith added 11 points for the Lady Bulldogs, who led by just three at halftime before out-scoring Covenant 24-13 in the third quarter.
Crystin Johnson led the Lady Eagles (8-5, 3-3 area) with 19 points.

Covenant Christian 75 Belgreen 45
Covenant Christian improved to 12-1 with Thursday's win.
Caleb Hatcher had 16 points to lead the Eagles, who jumped out to a 28-8 lead after one quarter and stretched it to 49-15 by halftime.
Shane Fretwell led Belgreen with nine points, and Taylor Hester and Lucas Albert each added eight.
Phillips 84 Vina 61
Brad Jones had 20 points to lead the Bears (9-2) on Thursday.
Craig Wilson added 15 points for Phillips, which led 30-9 after a huge first quarter.
Brent Townsend led Vina with 12 points. Blake Thorn added 11, and B.J. Beard finished with 10.
