PHIL CAMPBELL – Franklin County's newest Civitan Club has completed its first community project of the chapter.
The newly formed Phil Campbell Civitan Club adopted four local families for Christmas this year.
The group collected food, clothing and toys.
Civitan members delivered the items to the families, Ann Bragwell, Civitan member, said.
"We wanted to do something for our community for Christmas even though we are a new club," Bragwell said.
The club, which chartered with Civitan International in November, got the names of the families from the Department of Human Resources in Franklin County.
Wrangler of Hackleburg donated a large amount of clothing to the Civitan's cause. They received clothing for baby, kids, men and some women's clothing from the company. Bear Creek, Hackleburg and Phil Campbell Civitans received a portion of Wrangler's large donation, Bragwell said.
Twelve Civitan members met at the Phil Campbell City Hall to sort and wrap gifts for these families.
The club hopes to do something like this for their community every Christmas, Bragwell said.
"As our club grows, we hope to be able to help more and more families in Phil Campbell," Bragwell said.
