A Russellville woman turned herself into the police Thursday evening and was charged with Identity Theft first, and three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card.
Jacqueline "Jaci" Romans, 30, of 1400 North Jackson Ave, Russellville, allegedly took personal information from a male victim and used his identity to apply for credit cards via the Internet, Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said.
After applying for the cards, Romans was instantly approved for the cards and started placing charges on the for various items from women's clothing to gasoline, Hargett said.
The victim became aware of the cards after he applied for a loan through a local bank, and he reported to the police that his identity had been stolen, Hargett added.
Captain David Hester began to investigate the case and contacted the credit card companies.
Romans became a suspect through the investigation process, and the evidence against her was enough to issue arrest warrants for her, Hargett said.
Romans turned herself into Hester upon learning that police were looking for her.
Romans is in custody at the Russellville City Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
