The Franklin County Commission seems all set to purchase land for a new industrial park, pending the outcome of the land's appraisal.
The county commission voted Monday to ear mark $3,000 to the industrial board for an appraisal of about 190 acres on Alabama 243.
The county has an option to buy the land for $3,300 an acre until Feb. 20.
If the appraisal meets or exceeds the asking price, commissioners say they are ready to move forward with the purchase, totaling about $627,000.
The site has already drawn interest from industries looking for land.
Industrial Board and Development Authority officials say they have already been in contact with as many as four business that will require anywhere from 13 to 50 acres of land.
The appraisal is expected to be completed by the end of January.
