Clayton O. Baker

Clayton O. "Bud" Baker, age 74, of Spruce Pine, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2006, at Northeast Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.
Mr. Baker had lived most of his life in Franklin County. He was a retired truck driver and was a member of Blue Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Baker.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2006, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville with David Motes officiating. Interment was in Blue Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Baker is survived by a son, James Baker and wife Linda, of Phil Campbell; two daughters, Martha Roberts and husband Olen, of Spruce Pine, and Jean Montgomery and husband Tommy, of Russellville; a sister, Bernice Norton of Rienzi, MS; two grandchildren, Mandy Baker Shires and husband Clay, and Lynn Montgomery; and several nieces and nephews.
Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.
Mattie Lou Gist

Mattie Lou Gist, age 85, of Russellville, passed away Friday, November 17, 2006.
Mrs. Gist was a member of the Church of Christ. She operated a small neighborhood grocery store in Russellville in the 1950s and was a nurse for many years in Russellville area hospitals and nursing homes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orben F. Gist; her parents, Luther and Katie Malone; three brothers, Paul, Arman and Billy Malone; and three sisters, Gussie Todd, Eula Fisher and Kathryn Malone.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2006, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Johnny Richardson officiating. Interment was in DeVaney Cemetery in Russellville.
Pallbearers were Roger Long, Jeff Harbin, Ben Long, Aaron Harbin, Josh Harbin, Bret Gist, Jason Gist and Jacob Gist. Honorary bearers were Jordan Gist, Noah Gist and Levi Gist.
Mrs. Gist is survived by a son, Danny Gist and wife Patsy; a daughter, Yvonne Gist Foster and husband Paul; a sister, Joyce Allen; four grandchildren, Ginger Long and husband Roger, Jana Harbin and husband Jeff, Bret Gist and wife Linda, and Jason Gist and wife Kristy; ten great-grandchildren, Ben Long, Whitney Long, Aaron Harbin, Josh Harbin, Abbey Harbin, Jacob Gist, Jordan Gist, Maleia Gist, Noah Gist and Levi Gist; several nieces and nephews; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Country Cottage and Russellville Health Care for their professional and loving attention to Mrs. Gist.

Gordon D. Greenhill

Gordon D. "Bud" Greenhill, age 91, of Spruce Pine, passed away Friday, November 17, 2006, at Russellville Hospital.
Mr. Greenhill was a lifelong resident of Franklin County. He was retired from Shook &Fletcher and was a World War II veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Elliott Greenhill; his parents, W.B. and Lillie Greenhill; six brothers, Wilson Greenhill, Melton Greenhill, Milland Greenhill, Cranford Greenhill, Nelson Greenhill and Shelby Greenhill; and three sisters, Susie Belle Willingham, Estell Strickland and Rumell Goins.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2006, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wayne Boyles officiating. Interment was in Franklin Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were Mike Madden, Benny Greenhill, Elliott Underwood, Glen Strickland, Leon Strickland and Wayne Benson. Honorary bearers were Jimmy Mitchell and Charles Skidmore.
Mr. Greenhill is survived by several nieces and nephews; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.
