Officers make theft arrests

The Russellville Police Department made several arrests Tuesday on theft of property, robbery and criminal trespassing charges.
Anthony Lane, 25, of 715 East Franklin St. in Russellville, was arrested on after Capt. David Hester and Lt. Scotty Lowery received information that Lane and his brother Timothy, 28, who resides at the same address, were involved in a theft of tires and wheels.
Franklin County District Attorney Joey Rushing witnessed the theft and called the police.
During the interview the Lane Brothers admitted to the alleged theft of copper tubing from an abandoned residence in Russellville.
Both men were charged with two counts of Theft of Property 3rd and Criminal Trespassing 2nd and 3rd.
In an unrelated case, Aaron Lee Griffin, 18, of 5860 Colburn Mt. Road, Tuscumbia, was also arrested Tuesday, and charged with Robbery 1st and Theft of Property 2nd.
Griffin allegedly robbed a local man in the parking lot of a Russellville business.
The victim's wallet, containing cash and a credit and debit card, was taken. The vehicle allegedly used in the robbery was located in Colbert County by Hester.
A warrant was issued for Griffin's arrest after interviewing other suspects..
Other charges could be pending on other individuals after the investigation is completed and the evidence is reviewed by the grand jury, which meets in January.
Russellville Police were also called to a local business Tuesday after a Tennessee man was caught shoplifting there.
Johnny Neil Garrard, 39, of Savannah, Tenn. was taken into custody after fleeing the scene.
He was located by Sgt. Harold Washington at a residence on College Ave.
Russellville Police found 64 packages of different types of medication at the residence. The value of the recovered items totaled $273.25, Russellville Police said.
As of press time, bond had not been set in any of these cases.
