Voters want four more years

When the votes were tallied last night, Franklin County's two most contested seats – the office of sheriff and probate judge – went to the incumbents.
Sheriff Larry Plott took 77.5 percent of the vote, defeating challenger Glen Demastus 5791 votes to 1656.
"This has been an amazing year but I've already met with the department," Plott said last night after his win was secured. "I told them these next four years are going to be busier than the last 24."
Plott said this next term, his office will put more attention to drug education in the county's schools.
Probate Judge Mike Green took 63.4 percent of the vote to retain his seat. His 4809 votes were more than enough to defeat challengers Jerry Fancher (1120 votes) and Tommy Hutcheson (1695 votes).
"It's been a challenge – tough – but it's been a lot of fun," Green said of this term in office. "I'm looking forward to getting back to work (Wednesday morning)."
In other local races, Ralph Lee Winchester took 74.5 percent of the vote over Mike Kennedy for Franklin County Board of Education, District Five.
All other local candidates ran unopposed.
