RHS volleyball downs Decatur in area match

The Russellville High School varsity volleyball team continued its strong play of late with another area win on Monday, defeating Decatur 25-21, 15-25, 25-14.
Russellville improved to 3-2 in Class 5A, Area 16, and can secure the No. 2 seed for the area tournament with another win over Decatur on Thursday.
"We're playing better right now than we have at times in the past," Russellville coach Charlotte Dollar said. "We're hopeful for the area tournament."
The Class 5A, Area 16 tournament will be played on October 17, with the top two teams advancing to the regional tournament on October 21.
Russellville also played a non-area match on Monday, falling to Colbert Heights 17-25, 17-25.
Senior Jordan Dollar led Russellville on Monday with 13 kills, and she also had 13 attacks and 11 digs. Fellow senior Sasha Willingham added 11 attacks and nine kills.
Sophomore Cassie Montgomery finished with a team-best 14 digs and 14 attacks.
Junior Calli Davis led the team with 15 assists, and senior Tiffany Watkins added 10 attacks, seven digs and five kills.
Freshman Erin Reynolds recorded a team-high 15 attacks, and senior Alyssa Turbyfill had seven digs.
Junior Anne-Marie Hall finished with seven attacks, seven assists, five digs and four kills.
Sophomore Ariel Howard added three attacks and three blocks, and fellow sophomore Halie Harvey contributed five digs and three good serve receives.
Junior Derryl Gardner had one attack and two saves, and junior Lindsey Gardner added two attacks.
Freshman Allison Martin had two good serve receives.
Russellville will play Decatur and Lee-Huntsville on Thursday in a tri-match at Decatur High School. The match against Decatur will be Russellville's final area match of the regular season.
