Warehouse fire labeled "suspicious"

By Staff

There's still not final word on the cause of a blaze that destroyed a warehouse earlier this week.
"We're classifying the cause as undetermined and suspicious," Russellville Fire Marshal Bobby Malone said. "We have three or four leads that we are looking at."
The fire broke out at the warehouse used by Dependable True Hardware around 11:40 p.m. Sept. 17. The building and its content were heavily damaged and firefighters worked most of the night to put out the blaze.
Investigators remained on the scene for the first part of the week to sift through the rubble.
Malone said investigators initially thought electrical problems caused the blaze. That's no longer the case, he said.
"At the beginning we thought it was electrical. Now, we're about 90 percent sure it's not. The more we look at it, the less we think it was due to an electrical problem."
Malone said the investigation into the fire is ongoing.
