Vina improves to 13-3 with comeback win

Rodney Barnes may be having trouble with his pitching elbow, but it's definitely not affecting his hitting.
Barnes blasted his third home run in the past two games on Tuesday and fellow senior Corey Scott added a two-run shot as the Red Devils improved to 13-3 with a 10-6 win over Waterloo.
Barnes injured his right elbow during last weekend's county tournament and is scheduled to undergo an MRI next Wednesday. He has been wearing a protective brace the past two games, but it didn't stop him from hitting two homers on Monday against Brilliant and a solo blast against Waterloo on Tuesday.
Vina trailed Waterloo 6-4 before scoring six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Scott tied the game with a two-run homer, and Max Weeks and Paul Wilkins each had doubles as the Red Devils added four more runs in the inning.
Anthony Hester had a three-run double earlier in the game for Vina.
Scott (3-1) pitched a complete game to earn the win.
Vina will travel to face Marion County today in an area game at 4:30 p.m. The Red Devils are currently 1-1 in area play.

American Christian 4-12, Phil Campbell 0-6
The defending Class 1A state champs hit seven home runs on Tuesday in their sweep of the Bobcats (17-6).
