Lions snap Russellville win streak at ten

J.D. Woodward allowed just three hits in a complete game on Tuesday as Brooks defeated Russellville 2-1, snapping the Golden Tigers' 10-game win streak.
Russellville (22-6) had not lost since falling 3-0 to nationally ranked Dematha (MD) during last week's trip to Florida. The Golden Tigers won their final six games on the trip and had won four straight since returning home.
The Lions (8-9) beat Russellville for the first time in four meetings this season. They scored one run off an error and another on a sacrifice bunt by Parker Hendricks in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Golden Tigers were scheduled to return to action on Thursday at home against Florence. They will host Hamilton on Saturday.

Colbert Heights 22 Red Bay 1
The Wildcats (12-6, 2-2 Class 2A, Area 16) scored seven runs in both the second and fourth innings on Tuesday to complete a sweep of the Tigers (11-6, 2-2).
Mitchell Dalrymple drove in five runs for Colbert Heights, and Kyle Pennington had four hits. Troy Oliver was 3-for-4 and also earned the win, striking out 11 and allowing just five hits.
Red Bay finished sixth and Russellville placed 12th on Tuesday at the Lawrence County Invitational.
Grant Fancher shot 76 to lead Red Bay, which finished at 333. John Seal led Russellville (356) with a 79.
Brooks shot a team total of 294 to win the tournament.
