Bobcats beat Cherokee in extra innings

Tate Canida singled home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning on Tuesday as Phil Campbell finished off an area sweep of Cherokee with a 6-5 win.
The Bobcats (11-3, 2-0 Class 2A, Area 16) trailed 4-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh before rallying for three runs to force extra innings.
Cherokee scored a run in the top of the eighth to take a 5-4 lead, but Phil Campbell tied the game in the bottom half when Randy Cochran singled and later scored on a wild pitch.
Canida then capped off the comeback win with an RBI single in the ninth.
Griffin Harris led the Bobcats with four hits. Cochran and Steven Lacey each added two hits.
Matt Fountain led the Indians with two hits, including a three-run homer.
