Georgia Vernell Armstrong, David Franklin King, J.D. Russell, Clark C. Thorn, James Clinton Turner

Georgia Vernell Armstrong, age 80, of Russellville, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2006.
Mrs. Armstrong was a member of Russellville First Methodist Church and the Earnest Workers Sunday School class. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Vernon Armstrong and Irene Wilson Armstrong.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2006, at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Clinton Busler officiating. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery in Tuscumbia.
Mrs. Armstrong is survived by a brother, Cecil Armstrong and wife Kay, of Athens; and a sister, Sue Hendrix and husband Charles, of Ft. Worth, Texas.
Spry Chapel assisted the family.
David Franklin King, age 50, of Vina, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2006, at his residence.
Mr. King was born July 16, 1955, to Frank and Joyce Davis King. He was a truck driver for 25 years.
Mr. King is survived by his mother, Joyce King of North Carolina; his father, Frank King of North Carolina; two sisters, Nancy Quinn of Vina and Shirley King of Atlanta; and three brothers, Bobby Joe King and Nelson Eddie King, both of South Carolina, and Jerry Lee King of North Carolina.
Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
J.D. &#8220Junior” Russell, age 74, of Tuscumbia, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2006, at Helen Keller Hospital.
Mr. Russell was a native of Colbert County and a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #881, 32nd Degree Shrine, member of Eastern Star Chapter 511, Littleville. He was a veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Ford Motor Company. Mr. Russell was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Russell, Sr.; his mother, Methyl Stults; his grandparents, Sidney and Bettie Hovater; a son, Sidney Wayne Russell; and two sisters, Ruby Keller and Reba Hamilton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2006, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville with Buford Parker officiating. Interment was in Franklin Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were Mr. Russell's nephews and friends.
Mr. Russell is survived by his wife, Beatrice Russell; a daughter, Cheryl Johnson of Winchester, Kentucky; a son, Jimmy Russell; a step-son, Don Parker of Tuscumbia; two sisters, Edith Townsend of Stanton, Kentucky, and Mary Joyce Heflin of Anniston; two cousins, Don Hovater and wife Linda, and Frances Ford and husband, Edsel; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Faye Mansell.
Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.
Clark C. Thorn, age 83, of Red Bay, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2006, in Russellville.
Mr. Thorn was born January 22, 1923, to Hosea and Josie McMurray Thorn. He was retired from Reynolds Aluminum and was a farmer. He was a member of Pilot Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Eloise Thorn.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2006, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. A.H. Akins officiating. Interment was in Burnout Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mr. Thorn's grandsons and nephews.
Mr. Thorn is survived by his wife, Marley Mae Thorn; one daughter, Carole Jo Stephens and husband Claude, of Clifside, North Carolina; one son, Gary Thorn and wife Teresa, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; five step-children, Ann Spencer and husband Charles, of Vina, Belton Johnson and wife Leisa, of Vina; Nathan Johnson and wife Jeanette, of Red Bay, Tommy Johnson and wife Lori, of Red Bay, and Carolyn Pounders and husband Larry, of Belmont, Mississippi; two brothers, Thurston Thorn of Nashville and Bill Thorn of Russellville; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; twelve step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.

James Clinton &#8220Clint” Turner, age 62, of Riverdale, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2006.
Mr. Turner was born in Webster Parish, Louisiana, in 1943 to James and Mary Turner. He graduated from the Alabama School for the Deaf in 1965 and was an Eagle Scout. He worked in the printing industry and was a member of the International Typesetters Union, also, a member of G.A.D. (Georgia Association of Deaf) and G.A.D.S.C. (Georgia Association of Deaf Senior Citizens.)
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, February 21, 2006, in the Horis A. Ward Tara Chapel in Jonesboro with the Pastor Carter Bearden officiating.
Mr. Turner is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Alice Turner; a son, Jamie Turner and wife Christine; three grandchildren; and his mother, Lois Turner. He was the son-in-law of Myrtle Montgomery of Russellville and the brother-in-law of Mellie Faye Mann of Florence.
