School system to hold crisis planning meeting

The parking areas surrounding the Russellville city schools will be filled with police cars, fire trucks and ambulances Monday morning.
But there will be no cause for alarm.
The city school system will be holding a crisis safety planning meeting with all first responders from the county to prepare them to work together in the event that an emergency situation ever occurs.
With the hirings of a new police chief and fire chief in recent years, Cox said that it was important for those departments and school officials to familiarize themselves with one another.
The drills will give first responders from the city police and fire departments as well as from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office an opportunity to see several scenarios inside of the city school facilities.
The participants will work on drills to use in the event that a violent situation ever occurs on a campus.
Once the drills are completed, the county and city first responders will provide the schools with feedback on the plans that they have in place.
School officials also want the community to be aware that the crisis safety planning meeting will be taking place and that there is no cause for alarm if they see police and fire trucks at the school.
