Welcome home, 115th!

By Staff
If everything goes as planned, members of the Alabama National Guard 115th Signal Battalion will be arriving back in north Alabama this afternoon.
The soldiers and their families will be re-united after a long year apart.
The local unit has served in Iraq since last winter, and we're all so happy to have them home.
Frankly, this is a story that we know we'll never cover adequately. Each soldier has a great, unique story of sacrifice and commitment, and we'd love to do big feature stories on every one of them. That wouldn't be an easy thing to do, but we will try to cover the troops homecoming as best we can.
Franklin County residents are showing the soldiers how proud we are of them by putting up signs, ribbons and all manner of decorations with messages to the soliders. We appreciate the community's support for the local guard unit and urge them to continue that support.
We type these words because we have a precious freedom of the press, and that freedom has been preserved through the years because of troops just like ours and sacrifices just like our troops have made throughout this year.
No thank-you for their effort would ever be enough, but we do thank them.
And thanks to their family members who have kept everything together here at home while their soldier relatives were overseas. Their sacrifice and effort was considerable, also.
We're so glad to see the 115th home from Iraq safely. We thank them for their work and wish them well in their future endeavors. God bless you all.
