Larry Eugene Bishop, age 66, of Russellville, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2005, at Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield.
Mr. Bishop lived all his life in Franklin County and was a member of North Russellville Baptist Church. He served 21 years in the Alabama Army National Guard and reached the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He was retired from TVA, where he worked as a cost engineer. Mr. Bishop was a devoted husband, brother, father and grandfather. He was especially proud of his two grandsons and enjoyed being part of their everyday lives. Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Curtis Bishop; his parents, James L. Bishop and Myrtie Trapp Bishop; and five brothers, Guy F. Bishop, Leo J. Bishop, Leon W. Bishop, O. Ray Bishop and Ralph C. Bishop.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 28, 2005, at Pinkard Funeral Home chapel in Russellville with Bro. Dennis Stewart and Mr. Ralph Bishop, Jr. officiating. Interment was in East Franklin Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chris Bishop, Elliot Bishop, Carlton Bishop, Mike Williams, Justin Taylor and Dal Ogle.
Mr. Bishop is survived by a daughter, Melody Ann Bishop Fergerson and husband Leslie, of Russellville; a brother, Roy W. Bishop of Tuscumbia; two sisters, Mable L. Bishop of Tuscumbia and Dianne Miller of Russellville; and two grandchildren, Seth Fergerson and Evan Fergerson, both of Russellville.

Wallace Norman Pace, age 85, of Russellville, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2005, at Russellville Hospital.
Mr. Pace lived all his life in Franklin County. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Russellville. He retired from Reynolds Metals Company with 29 years of service. Mr. Pace was preceded in death by two children, Wanda June Pace and Wallace Norman Pace, II; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Simon P. Pace; three sisters, Mamie King, Leona Scruggs and Louise Seay; and three brothers, Houston Pace, Owen Pace and Luther Pace.
Thanks to all the doctors and nurses at Russellville Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2005, at First Baptist Church in Russellville with Dr. Gene Balding officiating. Interment was in Franklin Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were Charles Canida, Ronald Pace, Anthony Pace, Roland Pace, Gary Reed and Darrell Pace.
Mr. Pace is survived by his wife of 67 years, Louie Robinson Pace; a daughter, Tammy Lou Pace of Russellville; four brothers, Copeland Pace and wife Reba, of Birmingham, Ford Pace and wife Mary, of Spruce Pine, Gene Pace and wife Doris, of Littleville, and Charles Pace and wife Marie, of Tuscumbia; a sister, Ena Pickens and husband Gene, of Mt. Hope; two sister-in-laws, Flossie Pace of Tuscumbia and Arvaree Robinson of Tuscumbia; and several nieces and nephews.

Refie Carpenter Sanders, age 97, of Vina, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2005, at Care Center of Red Bay.
Mrs. Sanders was a native of Alabama. She was a retired school teacher from the state of California and also taught at Red Bay and Belgreen. She was a member of Red Bay Church of Christ. Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her husband, John Sanders; her parents, Finis and Willie Lee Sparks Carpenter; a son, John Earl Sanders; and five brothers and sisters, Rebecca Carpenter, Albert Carpenter, Jeff Carpenter, Strother Carpenter and Jesse Carpenter.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2005, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Turner Paseur officiating. Interment was in Sparks Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Sanders is survived by a son, Harold Sanders and wife Betty, of Vina; a daughter, Carol Ann Phelps of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Susie Hirschey Smith, age 95, of Russellville, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2005, at Burns Nursing Home.
Mrs. Smith was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and member of West Highland Baptist Church in Russellville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Webster "Bill" Smith.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2005, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville with Jim Poss and Mark Smith officiating. Interment was in Franklin Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Smith is survived by two sons, Dr. Isaac L. Smith of Richmond, Virginia, and Thomas L. Smith and wife Donnette, of Huntsville; a daughter, Billie Sue Poss and husband Jimmy, of Russellville; four grandchildren, Jim Poss and wife Carmen, of Russellville, David Smith of Tyler, Texas, Darrin Robison of Tuscaloosa, and Dana Sanders and husband Bill, of Albertville; three great-grandchildren, Ty and Hannah Grace Sanders of Albertville, and Jayna Zae Poss of Russellville; and several nieces and nephews.
