BELGREEN - Kala Dill, Casey Guinn and Amanda Hester each had 12 points on Tuesday as Belgreen held off a late rally by Shoals Christian to secure its third straight win, 50-40 over the Lady Flame.
The Lady Bulldogs have not lost since the county tournament and improved to 12-5 on the season, showing indications they may be peaking at the right time.
Mary Billingham got Belgreen off to a hot start with three early baskets, and Dill's three-pointer midway through the first quarter gave the Lady Bulldogs a 15-0 lead.
Belgreen led 21-7 after one quarter and extended the lead to 33-14 by halftime.
The Lady Bulldogs then started the second half much the same way they opened the game.
After Hester and Whitney Dalton exchanged jumpers, a basket by Guinn sparked a 7-0 run by Belgreen.
A three-pointer by Dill and a putback by Hester gave the Lady Bulldogs their largest lead of the night at 42-16 early in the third quarter.
Belgreen's starters were on the bench for much of a stretch that saw Shoals Christian score 16 unanswered points to trim the lead to 10 with 6:00 remaining.
A basket by Billingham halted Belgreen's scoreless streak, but Dalton had five points as the Lady Flame ran off a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 44-39 with 4:00 remaining.
Shoals Christian managed just one free throw over the final four minutes.
Billingham finished with eight points, and Monica Smith added four.
Dalton led Shoals Christian with 20 points, and Noel Byrd added eight.
