Russellville resident Don Willingham addressed the Russellville City Council Monday night seeking funds to assist the Reedtown Back-to-Basics life skills center.
Willingham, who has also spoken to the County Commission and other local bodies about the project, said the center is in need of $25,000 to be used for operating expenses, a new central heating and cooling unit, and costs to repair termite damage.
The center is designed to help local students further their abilities to get jobs and be productive members of society, Willingham said.
Willingham said the center recently received donations of some used computers for use at the life center, and supporters are planning some future fund-raisers and possibly even some celebrity appearances to help raise money for the project.
District 4 councilman Arthur Elliot said the city would look at ways to help the center, but the budget was extremely tight across the board.
