Calvary Baptist 'like being back at home' for new pastor Wallace

By Staff
Jonathan Willis FCT Staff Writer
Calvary Baptist Church in Russellville's new pastor, Bro. Wade Wallace, says that being at the church is like being back at home.
Wallace served as the minister of students and youth at Calvary from 1995-1997 and has been the pastor at First Baptist Church Hackleburg since that time. He began his full-time duties as pastor at Calvary on Dec. 19.
Wallace said that there is a strong foundation at Calvary in place and that he believes the church can grow from that and continue to minister to and reach the lost for Christ.
Wallace and his wife, Courtney, have two young boys, Jacob, 8, and Gabe, 5, and are looking forward to being part of the Russellville community once again.
Wallace said that prayer, evangelism and discipleship are three key points of emphasis that he will stress in his ministry.
Along with the addition of Wallace, Calvary also has a new student youth minister. Neil Rogers, a Cordova native and recent graduate of the University of North Alabama, assumed his position in early December.
Rogers and his wife, Stephanie, moved to Calvary from Hatton Baptist Church in Colbert County.
Wallace said that although it was hard to leave his congregation in Hackleburg, the move to Calvary has been a smooth transition.
