Hargett talks about '05 RPD goals

By Staff
Jason Houston FCT Managing Editor
Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said he doesn't typically make New Year's resolutions for himself, but he does have a few for his department.
The '05 goals, mostly dealing with improvements in manpower, equipment and training, are basically the same ones Hargett said he had when he took the job on Nov. 1. Hargett said the goals will be accomplished, just maybe not as quickly as he would like.
Hargett and the city council have held several budget work sessions in the past two months, hammering out the final budget for the city. The budget is the key to most of the improvements Hargett wants for the police department.
Also, new equipment is a goal for Hargett in 2005, beginning with the police cruisers members of the department drive.
Hargett hastened to say that all the talk of improvement is not meant to denigrate the department as it stands.
