Russellville football coach Perry Swindall simply refuses to cooperate.
With his Golden Tigers hoping to avoid a third straight loss in the Class 5A state championship game, one might expect Swindall to talk about how important it is for his team to finally win the big one. To get that championship game monkey off their back. To satisfy the desperate desire for the coveted trophy the Golden Tigers have come so close to claiming over the past few years, only to be denied.
But he won't do it.
Swindall went on to say that Saturday's showdown between his top-ranked Golden Tigers (13-1) and No. 2 Homewood (13-1) should be treated as just another game.
As Russellville prepares to face Homewood for the fourth time in the last five years, Swindall knows that bringing home the championship trophy will not be an easy task. The Patriots boast a 2,000-yard passer, a 1,400-yard rusher, a 1,200-yard receiver and a stout defense.
Swindall was very pleased with his team's performance in the semifinal rout of Athens.
