Mattie Rebecca Mitchell, age 92, of Phil Campbell, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2004, at Lakeland Community Hospital in Haleyville.
Mrs. Mitchell was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and a member of Gravel Hill Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, L.D. Mitchell.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 25, 2004, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville with Jack Henson officiating. Interment was in Liberty Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by a son, Frank Mitchell of Phil Campbell; a daughter, Margie Bates of Haleyville; a brother, Odas Hurst of Phil Campbell; two grandchildren, Doug and Lane Bates; and four great-grandchildren, Dex Bates, Emily Bates, Ashlee Bates and Miranda Bates.

Rebecca Jean Roberts, age 62, of Spruce Pine, passed away Monday, October 25, 2004, at her residence.
Mrs. Roberts was a native of Tennessee but had lived in Franklin County for the past 30 years. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Breford and Sarah Jane King; her brothers, H.L. Dwight and Bobby King; and a sister, Mildred King.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville with Randall Tice officiating. Interment will be in Shady Grove Cemetery in Phil Campbell.
Mrs. Roberts is survived by her husband, Kenneth O'Neal Roberts; two daughters, Anita King and husband Ricky, of Hartselle, and Jennifer Roberts of Spruce Pine; a brother, Lon King of McKenzie, Tennessee; two sisters, Mary Langhi of Benton, Kentucky, and Ann Tombs of McKenzie, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Bridgett Caldwell, Lisa Campbell, Josh Greenhill, Ashley Greenhill, Cody King and Summer King; a great-grandchild, Robson Campbell; and several nieces and nephews.

Margie Lou Smelser, age 72, of Russellville, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2004.
Mrs. Smelser was born in Franklin County. She was a former employee of Flower Craft and a member of Southern Blvd. Church of Christ in Sheffield. She was an active member of the Russellville Senior Citizens and loved to quilt. Mrs. Smelser was preceded in death by her parents, O.W. Willingham and Beulah Taylor Willingham; and a brother, William E. Willingham.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2004, at Rock Creek Cemetery with Bro. Guy McDaniel and Bro. Jackie Richardson officiating.
Pallbearers were Floyd Willingham, Jr., Wade Willingham, Jeff Willingham, Danny Willingham, Doyle Greenhill and Russell Smelser.
Mrs. Smelser is survived by her husband of 52 years, Clifton J. Smelser; two sons, C.W. Smelser and wife Betty, of Muscle Shoals, and Rickey Smelser and wife Jennifer, of Florence; a daughter, Mary Lou Henry and husband Don, of McMinnville, Tennessee; four sisters, Lillian Guthrie of Birmingham, Lenice Dean of Cleveland, Madrue Mitchell of Russellville, and Vernial Lou Bragwell of Tuscumbia; two brothers, Leo Willingham of Cherokee and Floyd Willingham of Russellville; five grandchildren, Aaron Henry and wife Amy, Nathan Henry, Jennifer Smelser, Jessica Miller and Lindsey Balentine; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Floyd Roy Turbyfill, age 78, of Russellville, passed away Friday, October 22, 2004, at his residence.
Mr. Turbyfill was a lifelong resident of Franklin County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Lou Turbyfill; two children, Carolyn Beasley and Terry Wade Turbyfill; and four brothers, Chester Turbyfill, Frank Turbyfill, Albert Turbyfill and James Paul Turbyfill.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2004, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel with Willie Fuller officiating. Interment was in McRight Cemetery in Russellville.
Mr. Turbyfill is survived by six children, Jessie Ray Turbyfill of Spruce Pine, Shirley Hovater of Florence, Floyd Turbyfill of Russellville, Randy Turbyfill of Russellville, Douglas Turbyfill of Florence, and Martha Turbyfill of Florence; two sisters, Marie Lovett of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, and Janelle King of Portsmouth, Virginia; fourteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Phyllis Ann Watkins, age 64, of Bel Haven, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2004, at Pungo District Hospital in Bel Haven, North Carolina.
Mrs. Watkins was a native of Colbert County.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 25, 2004, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville with Mike Kimbrough officiating. Interment was in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeff Berry, Matthew Watkins, O.J. Michael, Darin Woodruff, Norman Humphery and Jesse Sibley. Nathan Little was an honorary bearer.
Mrs. Watkins is survived by three sons, Ricky Corvell and wife Kay, of Russellville, Gene Edwin Watkins of Bel Haven, North Carolina, and Timothy Alan Watkins of Russellville; three brothers, Billy Guffy and Cecil
Guffy, both of Scottsboro, and Ronnie Gooch of Russellville; two sisters, Donnie Gooch of Bel Haven, North Carolina, and Fay Kadlee of Frazier Park, California; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild, Emmy Grace Berry.

David Wayne Weaver, age 39, of Vina, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2004.
Mr. Weaver was born May 21, 1965, in Alabama. He was an employee of Sunshine Mills for two years.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2004, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Rev. H. Akins and Alton Hester officiating. Interment was in Berry Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robert Hester, David Hester, Gene Hester, Chris Hester, Duane Creekmore and Tommy Williams.
Mr. Weaver is survived by his wife, Lori Weaver; a son, Demitri Humphres of Red Bay; his parents, Thomas and Barbara Weaver, of Vina; a step-daughter, Candace Bennett and husband Jeff, of Fulton, Mississippi; a step-son, Bradley James Peoples of Kansas; and a step-granddaughter, Bree Bennett of Fulton, Mississippi.
