NEWTON Services for James Edward Garvin were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Joey Long and J.B. Costilow officiating. Burial was in Liberty Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Garvin, 60, of Newton, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, in his home. He was a retired brakeman for Norfork-Southern Railroad, a beef farmer and a poultry farmer. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, the American Legion and he served as past vice president of Newton Farm Supply. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Ezelle Garvin of Newton; a daughter, Michelle Maske and her husband, Michael, of Newton; sons, Lance S. Garvin and Chad L. Garvin and his wife, Jamie, all of Newton; his mother, Myrtle Bell Tillman Garvin of Newton; a brother, Jack Garvin of Newton; a sister, Mary Helen Kellum of Newton; and granddaughters, Hannah Grace Garvin and Savanna Leigh Maske, both of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his father, O.C. Garvin Sr. and a brother, O.C. Garvin Jr.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Sibley, Al Kennedy, Tony Ezell, J. Paul Everett and C.P. Mosby.
Honorary pallbearers were Al Snowden, Wayne Maske, Gerald Pogue, Ben Moore, Lewis James, Gary Tune, Kenny Monk, Freddie Ezelle, Ray Ezelle, Lynn Ezelle, Clyde Goss and Rutch Patch.
MALVERN, Ark. Graveside services for Mary Frances Hunter were held Friday at 2 p.m. at Hart Cemetery in Arkadelphia with the Rev. Tony Barrow officiating. Atkinson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hunter, 51, of Malvern, formerly of Meridian, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Malvern Nursing Home.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Marie Lucas and her husband, David, of Parkin; brothers, Ronnie Stokley and his wife, Lawana of Yellville, and George Wilson of Pine Bluff; sisters, Phyllis Young and her husband, Johnny, of Meridian, Miss., Janice Pierce and her husband, Paul, of Wynne and Judy Coiner and her husband, Chuck, of Malvern; two grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Willard Wilson and Sarah Jane Putt Crawley; a brother, Charles Wilson and a son, Willard Strange.
QUITMAN Graveside services for Joan Pier Vickers will be held today at 11 a.m. at Crossroads Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Dabbs officiating. Wright's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Vickers, 69, of Pearl River, La., died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Northshore Regional Medical Center in Slidell, La.
Survivors include her husband, Alton A. Vickers of Pearl River, La.; a brother, Earl Pier of Pearl River, La. and a sister, Pearl Eschette of Indian Rocks Beach, Fla. and 14 grandchildren.
Memorials may be made the Diabetes Foundation.
BETHANY, Mo. Graveside services and military rites for Keith Templeton will be held today at 2 p.m. at The Chapel Grove Cemetery in Clark, Mo. Roberson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Templeton, 56, of Bethany, formerly of Meridian, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at Columbia Missouri Hospital. He was a veteran and served in Vietnam.
Survivors include his son, Keith Wayne Daily of Fort Benning, Ga.; brothers, Doyle Templeton and his wife, Kathy, of Welch, Okla., Lee Roy Templeton of Meridian; sisters, Carolyn Marsh and her husband, Floyd, of Ridgeway, Betty Ward and her husband, Skip, of Bethany and Louis Kirchhoff and her husband, Wayne, of Moberly.
BUTLER, Ala. Services for Johnny Louis Wyche Sr. will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Butler with the Revs. Greg Love, Micah Gandy and Russell Wray officiating. Burial will be in Butler City cemetery with Bumpers Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wyche, 72, of Butler, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Willow Trace Nursing Center.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Wyche of Butler; a son, Johnny Louis Wyche Jr. and his wife, Connie, of Alexander City; a daughter, Gina Suzanne Morgan of Butler; grandchildren, Jaime Lyn Love and her husband, Greg, and Gary Wayne Morgan; and step-grandchildren, Josh Peppers and Jason Peppers.
Visitation will be held today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services for Doris Brown will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Union Baptist Church in Clarke County with the Revs. Greg Massey and John Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Brown, 88, of Quitman, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, in her home. She was a member of Union Baptist Church for more than 40 years and taught Sunday school for more than 20 years. She was a retired receptionist at Moore's Eye Clinic of Meridian after working there for more than 32 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Cecilia Riley and her husband, Thomas; a son, Leland D. Brown Jr. and his wife, Mary; grandchildren, Deidre Smith and her husband, Steve, Todd Riley and his wife, Jennifer, Michael Brown and his wife, Dawn, Jeffery Brown and Christopher Brown; eight great-grandchildren, Kylie Smith, Courtney Smith, Kayla Riley, Katie Riley, Kyle Oglesby, Seth Brown, Abbey Brown and Josh Brown; a sister-in-law, Edna Ford and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Davis Brown Sr.; her parents, J.F. and Anna Louella Fontaine Riley; siblings, Mae Bunyard Johnson, Nora Sellers, Nettie West, Mabel Riley, Frank Riley, Jimmy Riley and Morris Riley.
Pallbearers will be J.E. Lewis Jr., Randy Robinson, Stacy Rogers, Everitt Webster, Billy Williams, and Wayne Henson. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Williams, Jim Wilson, C.W. McLemore, R.E. Williams, Kenneth Rolison and Roger Cummings.
Visitation will be Saturday from 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service at the church on Sunday.
