Retired East Mississippi State Hospital employee
DEKALB Services for Velma L. Warren will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Moscow Baptist Church in DeKalb with the Rev. Billy Ray Lyles officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. E.E. McDonald Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Warren, 58, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Smith; her sons, Robert Warren, Henry Warren and Gary Warren, all of Meridian; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Thelma Hickman and her husband, Lennard; a brother, Otha Adams Jr. and his wife, Annie, both of Meridian; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Visitation will be today from 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. at the E.E. McDonald Community Chapel in Meridian and Saturday from noon until service time at the church.

Graveside services for Carolyn Stroud Simons will be held today at 2 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery with the Rev. David Chandler officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Simmons, 56, of Decatur, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at Heartfelt Hospice. She was a member of the Abate Organization of Mississippi. She had a strong Christian faith and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her three children, Tracy Abbott and her husband, Timothy Mueller, of Phoenix, Lisa Rigney and her husband, Norman, of Winfield, Texas, and Max Simons Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; her mother, Evelyn Stroud of Mt. Vernon, Texas; brothers, Ralph Stroud, James Stroud, Bobby Stroud and Tommy Stroud; sisters, Charity Cochran, Susan Stroud and Melinda Barbour; grandchildren, Brandi, Ryan, Miranda, Bethany and Alex; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Dale Wright.
She was preceded in death by her father, Luther Stroud.
Visitation will be held today from 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

PHILADELPHIA Services for Lee J. Luke will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service chapel with the Revs. Andy Stoddard and Lawrence Pool officiating. Burial will be in Coy Methodist Cemetery.
Mr. Luke, 86, of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at Neshoba County General Hospital. He was a retired lead welder from Ingall's Shipbuilding. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Luke of Philadelphia; daughters, Jessica Karl of Northville, Mich., and Sherry Amy of Westland, Mich.; Larry Luke and Johnny Luke, both of Gautier, and Douglas Luke of Gulfport; a step-daughter, Lesia Boswell of Philadelphia; step-sons, Wayne Luke of Preston, Joe Charles of Iraq and Frank Luke of Philadelphia; 22 grandchildren; a sister, Mavis Luke of Preston; a brother, Andy Luke of Philadelphia; and several great-grand children and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

QUITMAN Services for Earl Lucas will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Grady Crowell officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Mr. Lucas, 87, of Quitman, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at Beverly Health Care in Meridian. He was a retired instructor with the civil service. He was a former recreation director for the city of Ozark, Ala. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Lucas of Quitman; a son, Frederick Lucas of Quitman; daughters, Alayne Hollingsworth of Stanley, N.C., Bettye Johnson of Quitman and Rhetta Haddock of Bixby, Okla.; a sister, Natalie Smith of Meridian; and grandchildren, Jeff Jacobs of Barlett, Tenn., Johnathan Tanner, of Fort Aberdeen, Md., Matthew Tanner of Quitman, Mike Haddock of New Jersey, Carmen Reed of Dothan, Ala., Joshua Lucas of Liberty, Mo., Derek Stone of Conover, N.C., and Justin Lewis of Jacksonville, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Arrangements were incomplete at Berry &Gardner Funeral Home for Charlie Mae LeFlore, 68, of Toomsuba, who died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
