Lakeview stays par for the course

At first glance, Lakeview Golf Course doesn't appear to have changed much from last season.
There may not be any drastic changes, but that is only because the course's employees have worked year round to keep Lakeview's links in quality playing conditions.
It may take being on the course for 12 months to notice the subtle work being done between playing seasons.
A small number of tees have been redone, mainly just to keep them in good shape for the golfers.
The tees have been leveled to fix the wear and tear from usage by golfers and natural erosion.
Lakeview also got a new fleet of 40 golf carts this year.
As Camp said "it's not just grass cutting" that keeps a course in good condition, but grass is always a concern on the links.
Thanks in large part to the recent rain that swept through the area over the last month, Lakeview's grass is emerald green.
Of course, the rain has also added some extra work for the course employees.
Players can also catch up on some of the latest equipment in the Lakeview Pro Shop.
The Cobra composite driver is the latest and hottest item to be added to the shop's shelves.
The minor cosmetic changes and new items in the Pro Shop may be hard to notice, but it is easy to see a change in how summer tournaments are being handled at Lakeview.
The course is organizing its own tournaments this year, beginning with a two-person scramble on July 31-Aug. 1. In the past, the men's association has been in charge of the tournaments.
The tournament is called the Jimmy Sandusky Memorial Tournament, and this year is the 15th playing of the tourney in memory of Sandusky.
Teams can enter the tournament for $100, with all of the proceeds going back to the course.
Gift certificates for the Pro Shop will be awarded to the winners of each flight. First place finishers will receive $500 for the team, second place is $300 and third place in $200.
Participants will also be treated to a catfish lunch on July 31 and a chicken lunch on Aug. 1. Beverages will also be available to golfers free of cost on the course.
Camp said around 40 teams have already signed up for the end of the month tournament, and he would like to see between 72-84 teams on the course when the tourney starts.
