QUITMAN Services for Robert Lee Brooks were held today at 10 a.m. at Stonewall Assembly of God Church with the Revs. Ed Shoemaker and Joey Everett officiating. Burial was in Frazier Grove Church of God Cemetery in Kemper County. Wright's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Brooks, 75, of Stonewall, died Monday, May 17, 2004, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Merchant Marines. He was a retired machinist at Lockheed Martin.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Brooks of Stonewall; daughters, Donna Brooks Woodall and Diana Brooks Taylor, both of Collinsville; step-daughters, Ann Jackson of Quitman and Faye Crabtree of Stonewall; a brother, Don Brooks of California; sisters, Bridget Brooks of Maryland and Christine Savell of Florida; grandchildren, Robert Brooks, Johnny Woodall, Joshua Woodall, Jared Woodall and Evamarie Woodall, B.J. Taylor, Jeremy Woodall, Christina Taylor and Kali Brooks; and great-granddaughters, Olivia Woodall and Brinley Woodall.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Michael Lee Brooks and Keith Robert Brooks.
Pallbearers were Billy Gene Hammrick, Richard Coats, Dale Manning, Greg Risher, Michael Thomas and Ed Allen.
Services for Herbert Lee Scott will be held today at 1 p.m. at Latimer Metropolitan Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery.
Mr. Scott, 79, of Meridian, died Wednesday, May 14, 2004, in his home.
Survivors include his daughters, Clara Houston and Barbara Scott, both of Meridian; sons, Anthony Scott of Meridian, Herbert Lee Scott Jr. and Leander Scott, both of Louisville, Ky.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
HALEYVILLE, Ala. Graveside services for Ruby Moore Connell will be held today at 2 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Meridian with the Rev. Dr. Wayne E. Riley officiating. Pinkard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Connell, 91, of Haleyville, formerly of Meridian, died Monday, May 17, 2004, at Haleyville Health Care Center. She was a resident of Haleyville for more than 20 years after moving from Meridian. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Haleyville.
Survivors include her children, Ann Mott of Haleyville, Edwin Russell Connell Jr., of Birmingham; grandchildren, Melissa Bedford of Haleyville, Amy Mott of Tuscaloosa, Russ Connell III of Anniston and Josh Connell of Nashville, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Madison Poole, Natalie Poole and Abigail Poole, all of Haleyville and Edwin Connell of Anniston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin R. Connell Sr.; her parents, Annie Platt Moore and Eugene Moore; sisters, Bessie Compton and Erin Presley.

Services for Sara M. Rogers will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Bill Webb officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Rogers, 60, of Stonewall, died Saturday, May 15, 2004, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a retired plant manager of Quitman Knitting Mill.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen Deese; sons, John Thomas Rogers and Roy W. Rogers Jr., all of Meridian; grandchildren, Brooke Deese, Gayla Deese, Magan Deese, J.T. Rogers, Jamie Rogers, Geoffrey Rogers, Jordan Rogers, Dalton Rogers, Anthony McNulcy, and Eric Tanner; great-grandchildren, Seth Smith and Blake Mosley; a sister, Catherine McNulty of Meridian and a special friend, Susan McElroy of Stonewall.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Prentis and Margaret Mitchell; her husband, Roy W. Rogers and sister, Sandra Huffmaster.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Smith, Brian Mosley, Eddie Dearman, Mark Carver, Rick Blackwell, Greg Fairchild, Harry Poug and Robert Burns.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Huffmaster, Johnnie Huffmaster and Johnnie Huffmaster.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Arrangements were incomplete at Berry and Gardner Funeral Home for Percy Sanders, 78, of Rose Hill, who died Monday, May 17, 2004, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
