NEWTON Services for Tommie Purvis Dear will be held today at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Rowzee officiating. Burial will be in New Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Dear, 85, of Hickory, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Bedford Care Center in Newton. She was a member of New Fellowship Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was kind to everyone.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Branning of Philadelphia, Tommie Williams and her husband, Joe, of Hickory and Sara Jones and her husband, Wayne, of Hickory; a son, Al Dear and his wife, Becky, of Hickory; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe and Betty Dear of Hickory; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband of more than 57 years, Albert Dear; her special mother-in-law Blanche Dear; her parents, Michael and Cynthia Purvis; a son-in-law, the Rev. Joe Branning; her brother, Wiley Purvis and sisters, Vera Gandy, Lela Turberville and Minnie Zambie.
Pallbearers will be John Branning, David Jones, Chad Jones, Eric Dear, Alan Dear and Andre Dyess.
QUITMAN Services for Annie M. Logan will be held today at 2 p.m. at Rolling Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Travis McManus and Ronnie Cooper officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Logan, 84, of Meridian, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Queen City Nursing Center.
Survivors include her sons, Leroy Sisson and Fred Sisson, both of Quitman; daughters, Brenda Thompson, of Wilmar, Ala., and Lois Harris of Vancleave; sisters, Louise Harper and Ina Williams, both of Meridian; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
SEBASTOPOL Services for Linnie Cotton will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Nanih Waiya Mennonite Church with the Rev. Mark Wroth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Milling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Cotton, 65, of Louisville, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her daughters, Lucille Cotton and Regina Hudson, both of Louisville and Mary Clemons of Philadelphia; brothers, J.B. Wallace of Philadelphia and Sammy Wallace of Louisville; a sister, Willie Mae Jim of Philadelphia; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Cotton and her mother, Lillie Willis.
DEKALB Services for James J. Hill will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Hattiesburg with the Rev. R.W. Woullard Jr., officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with E.E. McDonald Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hill, 36, of Hattiesburg, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, in Hattiesburg.
Survivors include his mother, Laura Mae Hill of Hattiesburg; his father, the Rev. Lawrence H. Hill and his wife, Christell, of Meridian; three sisters, Eloise Nelson and her husband, Louis, of Mt. Oliver, Elaine Pope and her husband, Michael, of McGee, and Patricia Hill of Gulfport; five brothers, Ronnie Hill and Greg Hill, both of Hattiesburg, Henry Hill and his wife, Sonya, of Burlington, N.J., Frank Hill of Prentiss, and Freddie Hill and his wife, Kisha, of Hindsville, Ga.; and several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements were incomplete at James F. Webb Funeral Home for Clifton Moore, 77, of Lauderdale, who died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at Guardian Angel Hospice.
