MCC looks to finally get on softball field

Nine community college fast-pitch softball teams are set to converge on Northeast Park today and Saturday for the 2004 Rush-MCC Tournament.
The action, weather permitting, is set to begin at 8:45 a.m. and will feature teams from five states. Fifteen games are scheduled for today, with 12 more to follow on Saturday.

MCC has played several of these teams in the past in the NJCAA National Tournament. "This is a great tournament, and the field is always going to be great," Eakins said. "We try to get the best teams from around the country and this season will be much of the same story."
MCC hasn't played a game this season due to the poor weather throughout the area, and Eakins will see his Lady Eagles in action for the first time today.
