Pair of Cats sign up

A pair of Meridian High School students signed to continue their playing careers in a different kind of futbal on Wednesday morning.
Lady Wildcats goalkeeper Sarah Denham and striker Kourtney Harris each signed national letters of intents to play soccer for four-year programs next season on national signing day, a day when college football signings typically take center stage.
Denham signed to play for Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn., and Harris inked with the University of Louisiana-Monroe in a meeting room inside the high school.
Denham leaves Meridian High as the all-time shutout leader for either the girls' or boys' soccer programs.
The Lady Wildcat netminder recorded 42 shutouts while in goal for four years at Meridian High. Denham recorded 16 shut outs in 18 games her freshman year, and she notched nine shut outs in each of the last three seasons.
Denham said here decision to leave the state to play soccer came after she visited Lee on a recruiting trip.
Harris chose to sign with the University of Louisiana-Monroe because to go back to her original home.
Harris tallied 42 goals for Meridian High this past season, and she said being able to continue her soccer career at a collegiate level has been a long-time goal.
