The Magnolia Bass Club recently held its year-end awards banquet at the Salad Factory on highway 493.
This year there was a new award given out to the fishermen who registered the highest total weight of bass caught during the tournament season. The award was given in honor of former club member Jimmy Eubanks, who passed away last year.
Magnolia president Jim Stephens presented Eubanks' wife Carol with a plaque expressing the club's love and respect for Jimmy Stephens also lamented his passing and expressed how much he will be missed in the future.
The plaque included a picture of Eubanks holding to huge spotted bass that he caught a few years ago at Dalewood Lake. Eubanks loved bass fishing and being on the water with friends, whether fishing for fun or competition.
Carol Eubanks presented the inaugural Jimmy Eubanks Memorial Award to Michael Miller, son of winner Mike Miller, who was out of town on business. Miller caught a total weight of 54.10 pounds of bass.
Jim Stephens presented the following awards at the banquet:
First place boater and fisherman of the year: Robbie Boman, 438 points and 49.49 pounds.
Second place boater went to Greg Shirley with 435 points.
Third place boater went to Wesley Wheat with 429 points.
First place in the non-boater division was Michael Miller's 407 points.
Second place non-boater went to Dale Boman with 394 points.
The Magnolia Bass Club will hold its first meeting of 2004 on January 26 at 5:45. For more information contact Jim Stephens at 482-2371.
